About Workshops
At Cairn Training we offer are range of different workshops on offer to be carried out in the nursery setting. We also offer workshops in Aberdeen at our office in a comfortable setting with a maximum of 14 participants.
In line with CPD requirements, it is compulsory for all staff to complete 60 hours of training over a 5 year period. We bring a presentation with us to each workshop, participant packs and will prepare a certificate for each attendee. We offer competitive prices for courses, and will be happy to discuss these with you. Any candidate training with us will not be charged for any training booked.
What The Child Development Workshop Covers
Duration: 2.5 hours
The Child Development Workshop is aimed at those who are new to the sector and anyone looking to update their knowledge or skills. This workshop can be delivered in the nursery setting. The workshop will take 2.5 hours to complete. The workshop covers the following:
- Clearer understanding of what development is
- What are milestones?
- What influences development?
- Development across play
- Brain development
- Our role in supporting child development

What The Communication With Children Workshop Covers Duration: 2.5 hours
The Communication With Children Workshop is aimed at those who are new to the sector and anyone looking to update their knowledge or skills. This workshop can be delivered in the nursery setting or in our office in Aberdeen City Centre. The workshop will take 2.5 hours to complete. The workshop covers the following:
- How to create effective communications
- Why good quality interactions are important
- Attachment and relationship theory
- Language development milestones
- Communications in the work setting
- Preparing for and managing story time
enquireWhat The Child Protection Workshop Covers
Duration: 3 hours
The Child Protection Workshop is aimed at those who are new to the sector and anyone looking to update their knowledge or skills. This workshop should be updated every 3 years, it is a Core Training required for everyone working in the sector. This workshop can be delivered in the nursery setting or in our office in Aberdeen City Centre. The workshop will take 3 hours to complete. The workshop covers the following:
- Recognise different types of abuse
- Know how to report concerns
- Legislation and policy
- Increased confidence in identifying and reporting concerns
- Awareness of what may happen next
- *This training is delivered in line with Aberdeen City and Shire Child Protection Partnership guidelines*

The Curriculum For Exellence Workshop is aimed at those who are new to the sector and anyone looking to update their knowledge or skills. This workshop can be delivered in the nursery setting or in our office in Aberdeen City Centre. The workshop will take 2.5 hours to complete. The workshop covers the following:
- Discover the 4 capacities
- Learn about the 8 learning areas
- Working with the experiences and outcomes
- Taking observations and linking these to the curriculum
- Child-led learning
- Audit tools
- Benchmarks
