Cairn Training (Aberdeen) Ltd delivers high quality SVQ training in the Early Learning and Childcare sector in the North-East of Scotland. We are well informed on SSSC requirements and have a range of SVQ qualifications to meet the changing needs of professionals working with young children. Our aim is to deliver training which allows candidates to work in the way which suits them best, with supportive assessors and trainers. Currently we deliver SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) award at level 2, 3 and 4. These qualifications are recognised by the SSSC as registerable qualifications for working in the Early Learning and Childcare Sector. We are accredited by SQA (Scottish Qualification Association) and offer 3 different funding avenues. We are subject to regular audits and compliance visits by our funding bodies and SQA, for which we have always produced results we are always proud of.

Director
Kirsty is the director of Cairn Training (Aberdeen) Ltd. She has worked within the company for many years now, having joined the team in January 2014 and assumed the director role in April 2015. She brings 15 years of Early Years’ experience to this post and is enormously passionate about this sector. She has worked in nurseries from a young age, working initially as a lunch time cover – and progressed to become an assistant manager of a private city centre nursery which provided lots of experience on the day to day running of a nursery. Kirsty has gained a HNC in Childcare and Education, and furthermore holds a BA degree in Child and Youth Studies. Kirsty’s main experience is with 3-5 year olds and the Curriculum for Excellence. Kirsty holds the relevant and most up to date assessor and internal verifier awards. Kirsty is responsible for candidate visits – planning and delivering these, plus the management and administration of the staff and the business.
Nicola
Bain
Assessor and Internal Verifier
Nicola is an assessor and internal verifier at Cairn Training and brings 18 years’ experience in Early Years to the post. She joined the Cairn Training team in January 2015. She holds a HNC in Childcare and Education plus an SVQ level 4 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. She also holds the relevant assessor and internal verifier award required for this post. Nicola’s main experience is in the 0-3 departments and for most of her career, she managed a busy city centre nursery. Nicola is responsible for assessing candidate work, whilst planning and arranging SVQ visits. She also delivers evening workshops as part of her role. Nicola is an organised and enthusiastic assessor who strives for high standards.
Sarah
Collins
Assessor/Internal Verifier/Contracts Manager
Sarah joined the Cairn Training team in November 2016. She brings lots of experience in the Early Years Sector to this role, and holds an SVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education plus a HND in Communication Studies. Sarah has completed her assessor and internal verifier awards, Assessors Award: Learning and Development 9i & IV Award: Learning and Development D11) Sarah is responsible for visiting, planning with and marking work from allocated candidates. Ensuring quality of sites & assessor’s competence through site visits and internal verification of trainee’s work. Sarah plays a monumental role in supporting the company to support learners with additional needs. Sarah also holds a Certificate in the Principles of Leadership and Management and is responsible for Contract Management alongside the Head of Centre. Sarah is very passionate and committed to her role in helping people reach their potential in the Early Years workforce. She also delivers evening workshops as part of her role within the company. She is also responsible for administration for the company plus leads on our social media content.
Naomi
Charlesworth
Assessor/Quality Assurance Manager
Naomi has worked at Cairn Training since August 2020. She brings a wealth of management knowledge with her from her previous role as a Nursery Manager of 2 large Aberdeenshire settings. She has completed a BA in Childhood Practice and holds a BA in Child and Youth Studies too. She also has Leadership and Management Certificates. Naomi holds her assessor award (L&D9i) and is responsible for visiting, planning with and marking work from allocated candidates. Naomi is responsible for Quality Assurance within the company supporting the Head of Centre with this important task; ensuring quality is at the heart of what we do.
Natalie
Peden
Assessor and Internal Verifier
Natale joined the Cairn Team in July 2017. Natalie brings an enthusiasm for Early Years to her role with leadership experience in previous roles. Natalie holds an SVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. She has completed her assessor and internal verifier awards, Assessors Award: Learning and Development 9i & IV Award: Learning and Development D11. Natalie is responsible for visiting, planning with and marking work from allocated candidates. Ensuring quality of sites & assessor’s competence through site visits and internal verification of trainee’s work. Natalie supports the team with workshop design and news from the Care Inspectorate.
